High-Tension Cable issue conflicting in Shanghai

Recently this is a hot topic here.

There's High-Tension Cable hanging over the CHUNSHEN urban area of Shanghai, China, the local residents did not know that when they bought the department in this area. In Aug. 2006, Shanghai electricty company announced that electricty capacity will be extended, and provided 3 options to collect the feedback from the residents. Thus the 220,000 volt High-Tension Cable will go through 9 schools and 20 living Subdistricts.
Though it's said that according to the research till now, no proof has been found that it will be harmful to people's health, the residents along the line did not feel comfortable of its existence. The cost of burying the cable into the underground can be counted, but the health is invaluable. According to the industry standard, 20m is the safe distance, currently the nearest distance between the cable to the building is 49m, 76m, from human nature, people fear of this kind of things, it's still too close. So they asked the electricity company to bury the Cable into the underground, there's already examples in other district of Shanghai that it's technically feasible, this is an improved proposal according to thrid option.
However, due to some reason, the company can't agree with this proposal, it insisted on its original proposal, with a little change -- no new high-tension corridor will be created, and existing corridor will be transformed to multi-loop or cable mode.
In Sep. 2007, it started construction without the agreement of the residents, neither had they annouced the construction start. It caused the strong disagreement of the residents, they began to call community together to fight against it, for these reasons:
1. needs to be known about the construction plan, when buying the deparment here, and now
2. public hearing will need to be held before the construction.

Their trying including:
1. legal action, by a lawyer resident.
2. collective signatures petition, letters, emails to the goverment.
3. hanging out the banners with the words "Anti High Tension" in large letters over their windows.
4. zealous demonstration

The electricty company said that the construction program is urgent and legal, but no understanding gained from the the residents. In late November, the conflictment became white-hot, the company broke into the subdistrict, hundreds of the residents met at the basketball court to show their opposition. The police was also involved.

The information was closed in local new report.

Subdistrict is a low level administrative country subdivision. In Thailand it may refer to the king amphoe or to the tambon. For China see: subdistricts of China.
The Subdistrict is one of the smallest Political divisions of China. In general, urban areas are divided into subdistricts (街道办事处 jiēdàobànshìchù or simply 街办 jiēbàn, literally "street offices"), and a subdistrict is divided into several communities or neighbourhoods (居民区,居住区,小区,社区).

I often see others talking about technorati and clicking from technorati . Today I try to put some blogs into my technorati, found that I've not register there. And to claim this blog is mine, I post this link here: Technorati Profile. It's an interesting authority checking method.

It's said previously the top Chinese blog is a blog from USA, boing boing. Now the movie star and director Xu's blog take over it since May this year.

Share love for Public School Teachers and Students

My study was free until grade 3. My elementary school was sponsored by a factory, later the factory did not run well, so need the students pay for part of the tuition. I still remember I was asked to pay 0.5 RMB as the tuition in that semester, 0.5 RMB equaled 50 piece of popsicle at that time.

So it's very easy for my family to afford. I've a brother who is several years older than me, also in the school. In my childhood, I never feel poor or embarrassment of my family. I met a classmate who I have not seen for 15 years recently, we recalled all the happy time together, so sweet memories. I live a very easy and happy childhood life. Even in University, I only need afford 270RMB for one semester.

Later on, the goveronment began to reduce the investment to the public school, then the schools began to increase the tuition for operation and teacher's payment, though so, the teacher still could not get a satisfied incoming, the teacher's qualification was keeping down. On the other hand, I heard that nowadays to bear one child from birth to University graduation, it will need at least 200,000RMB, this is for public school and the student was enrolled with entry exam passed, if a couple send their child to the private school, they need save more money.

When I severed in a university, I heard a lot of students said that their family ran up a score. Some of them cant focus on the study, just think of how to make money to pay off even in the class time, and some of them have to discontinue their studying. It's a problem of the society.

It's good to know that blogcatalog community found an organization called DonorsChoose.org that makes it really easy to hold a Community Fundraising Event and as member of the community I'm really excited to attend the NEW BlogCatalog Community Challenge for Public School Teachers and Students (For U.S.A this time). Though all what I knew was about my country, affordable and good schools are necessary to society eveywhere and every family.

So how about to donote a little effort to contribute to our next generation, share our love and care to them. Here it goes, there it comes. It's kind of time and society balance, you save another 50 pieces of popsicle, one more family afford easy, one more child live happy, and go on, go on.
